Can I just dermaplane at home?

So the topic is, can I dermaplane at home? So first I feel as though I need to explain exactly what dermaplaning is.

Dermaplaning as a service is a removal of the vellus hair a.k.a. “peach fuzz” as well as 2 to 3 weeks of dead skin. It also serves well to uncover clogged pores annd it allows for the deeper penetration of products and ingredients into the skin.

The way that skin professionals perform this treatment is by using a scalpel similar to what a surgeon would use, to go back-and-forth over the skin thus removing the excess hair and dead skin leading to smoother, brighter, more refined skin texture, and tone. This tool is not something that most people would recommend to the general public because of course it can be quite dangerous, causing nicks and bleeding if not properly trained, especially if you are on a medication that may cause your blood to thin.

Therefore, what the public will use instead is a shaving tool, which is absolutely fine for hair removal. If you simply want a fuzz free face so that your products and makeup will go on smoothly by all means. I actually have clients that enjoy doing this in between facials to get them through until their next regularly scheduled facial.

In summary, the tool that you will use at home will not get the same exfoliating, brightening, and anti-aging benefits however it will get you a smooth hair face in the meantime.
